Sleeping Bags in My Dad's Truck

When I was a little kid my Dad worked as a pipeline superintendent. After he came on time my sister and I decided to check out his truck while he slept.

There were always something new, toys, tools, etc. One time we found these nifty sleeping bags behind the seat, they had a zipper in the front and would open and close from the outside. They were not insulated. We decided to play with these on the front lawn.

After a while our Dad woke up, grabbed a tea, came out on the deck, saw what we were doing and lost his mind. As you probably figured out they were body bags. At that time in the early 70s it was considered normal for workers to die on the job and supervisors had to have body bags to put the bodies in to transport them to town. My Dad was the one who put the dead workers in the body bag, it was the job of the supervisor.

Dad quickly took the body bags back and told us, in no uncertain terms, to never go into his truck without his permission.

This is the way it was, things have changed, supervisors are no longer required to put bodies into body bags. It is no longer acceptable for workers to get hurt.

Capacity

Bad safety reduces capacity.

Good safety maintains capacity.

Great safety increases capacity.
